Use of Insurance Included with Credit Cards
If you are considering using credit card insurance, the most reliable way to confirm whether or not your credit card includes insurance and whether or not cashless medical services are available is to call the credit card company's telephone number on the back of your card and inform them that you wish to receive medical treatment overseas.
Notes on the use of credit card supplementary insurance
Number of days elapsed from the date of departure from Japan
In principle, the credit card supplementary insurance covers the onset of illness for up to 90 days from the date of departure from Japan. Therefore, illnesses that occur after 90 days will not be covered.
The length of time required to confirm the availability of cashless medical services
Compared to general overseas accident insurance, credit card supplementary insurance tends to require more time to confirm whether or not the insurance is included and whether or not it is available. Therefore, if you need to see a doctor in a hurry, we recommend that you make a payment on your own and file a claim after you return to your country.
If you wish to use cashless medical services, we recommend that you call your credit card company at your hotel prior to your visit. -
